About
The club is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) situated in the village of Sandbank on the South West side of the Holy Loch adjacent to Holy Loch Marina a couple of miles from Dunoon on the A885. The Holy Loch scenery is simply stunning and new members are very welcome.
HLSC runs RYA recognised training for juniors and invites adults to come and have a go at sailing - see our events page.
Activities
Holy Loch Sailing Club is about having fun on the water. We have active racing, cruising, and cadet fleets. The most enthusiastic manage all three. And we shouldn't forget the social events organised through the season and occasionally the off-season.
Racing
Faster and furious
Wednesday evening is where it's at with 3 series of 6 races for pipers, flying fifteens, white sailes and all comes (mostly but not exclusively dinghies). There are numerous weekend racing opportunities too and it all culminates in the infamous open Polaris Regatta at the end of the season.
Cruising
Enjoy the time to take a detour
Enjoying a sheltered position on the shores of the beautiful Holy Loch the Club moorings are an ideal place to keep your boat safe. The beauty of the location provides an ideal start to every journey and dream. Ideally located for cruising the Upper Firth of Clyde, the Kyles of Bute and around to Loch Fyne or further afield to the Hebrides and Ireland.
Learning The Ropes
Training future generations
HLSC runs RYA recognised training for juniors. Cadets learn the ropes in small groups in a Wayfarer before going solo in our fleet of Toppers. The more experienced will move on to Laser 3000s. Cadet Training as it is known happens on a Thursday evening. If interested come along to the club and take a look, we don't bite, we promise.
“Work like a captain and play like a pirate.”
