2025 Nov - Skiff Update

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our amazing local marine engineers — Swordfish Marine. They have generously given us space in their workshop to bring our skiff project to life. A huge shout-out to Peter and the whole team for helping us turn a dream into reality!

We’d also like to give a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed towards funding the skiff — including Western Ferries, Alpkit (a supplier of brilliant outdoor equipment here in Scotland http://alpkit.com/foundation), and our wonderful club members who have made personal donations. Your support means the world to us!

With the building frames now in position, we moved on to fixing the hog into place — a long piece of larch running from bow to stern, forming the foundation for the lowest plank on the hull. Once the glue set, we rolled up our sleeves for the next big task: carefully shaping the hog into a vee so the bottom plank will sit perfectly against both frame and hog.

There’s still a long way to go — but every step brings us closer to launching our very own skiff!  Stay tuned for more.
