2025 Series 3 Race 6

After a breezy day the wind decided to disappear just as the racing was about to start. This didn’t deter the competitors from taking to the water. It was a game of snakes and ladders on the water as what little breeze remained was very unpredictable.

After sailing over thirty members and guests enjoyed the final barbeque of the season as the sun went down. Thank you to the galley team of Alison Chalmers, Cat Craig and Kirsty Brown.

Pipers

The fluky wind caused much consternation in the Piper Class, particularly for Andy Love and his crew in Tamarind. Following an excellent start where they established a healthy lead on the first two legs, Tamarind went from first to last on the next leg as the wind backed ninety degrees, to lose her chance of line and overall success. Meanwhile Series leader Tom Piper must have thought she had sewn up the overall win after she slid into the lead until Leander, under the experienced command of wily veteran Alan Waugh, along with Tallin Shaw and Iain Campbell, pulled up from fifth to first. This being the final race, Leander tied with Tom Piper but on the tie break (penalty kicks!), Alan and his crew pipped their more experienced adversaries to win the Dunoon Trophy and prevent Tom Piper from taking a whitewash of series victories.
