Skiff Build Update

Work is well and truly back underway after the Christmas break! The build team have bee

n hard at it, and we’re delighted to report that four of the six planks are now fitted on each side of the skiff.

Once the final planks are in place, the next steps will be fixing the bow and stern stems, followed by fitting the keel plank. If all goes to plan (and no hiccups!), this should be completed by March — marking a major milestone in the project. At that point, the hull will be lifted from the frames and turned upright, ready for the gunwales and seats to be installed.

To mark this exciting moment, the club is planning a ‘turning over party”  — more details will be shared closer to the time.

We’re also starting to plan how the skiff will become part of club life. This includes training a group of ‘lead rowers’ who will be responsible for the skiff and its crews when in use. The skiff section at Royal Gourock have very kindly offered their support with this training.

If you’re interested in becoming a lead rower, please speak to Marion or email her at events@holylochsailingclub.onmicrosoft.com.
